If you have an account on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or YouTube and have downloaded these apps on your mobile phone, then you are definitely familiar with what is called a social media app.

You may have less than a thousand followers or subscribers, or maybe you have more than a thousand, say ten thousand, and you call yourself a microinfluencer - someone who have high engagement score and collaborates with businesses for product endorsements, discounts or free stuff. And you've been at it for years, posting and uploading content but it seems you aren't really rewarded for the contents you upload. I am sure that by now you are wondering if that is all there is to it. Then you must be part of the bigger population who have never heard of social media platforms that are built on the blockchain. And I am not wondering at all as few can even really understand what a blockchain is, and even fewer folks are able to explain what it is to the public.

You may have not heard this yet. The digital future is built on blockchain!

So what does that mean for Social Media platforms?

Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube will one day disappear. They will be replaced by decentralized applications or Dapps that are more secured, more intelligent, and not owned by one single organization or corporation, but is staked by the many users of the blockchain.

These decentralized Social Media Applications that are built on the blockchain are already here - Nimses, Minds, and Allme are some examples I can think of because I have them installed on my phone, and have been using them for months now.

Two weeks ago, I discovered @steem and its social media platform called @steemit, and the dapps - @partiko, @esteemapp, @dtube, and @activit.

Steem is the blockchain, and Steemit is the social media platform. Now imagine Steemit can be broadcasted to different decentralized applications that can make the experience for its users different. Some users prefer to just see travel feeds, others just wants food, and some are really into photo sharing similar to how Instagram is built.

Enter @APPICS, a decentralized social media application that is built on the Steem blockchain. This app is a reward-based platform, where users can get rewarded for every like they receive on each uploaded content, that's turning your 'likes' into actual currency.

Think of APPICS as your instagram on steroids, as it is built on the blockchain and can reward you with Steem which you can convert to other cryprocurrencies via online exchanges like Binance.

As APPICS official launch is getting nearer, the team wanted to invite more of the community to continue testing the application on their Android or IOS phones. I downloaded the app right after, and have been using it since. I even joined the bounty for APX which is the official APPICS token for distribution soon.
