In Quezon City there are but very few places that you can go to that serve really good food when you're hungry, and want a decent meal during the wee hours of the morning. So finding this small restaurant along 20th Avenue in Cubao was a real treat.

I would usually drive Red to work at 4 in the morning, and when I go home, I would take the route that goes through the 20th Avenue, and several days ago was no different. I noticed though that there is a well lit small restaurant that was open at the corner of one of the streets that I usually do not frequent. There are no one inside, and the stores beside it are not open yet. It was an unusual site to find a well lit restaurant during that time. So I figured I might as well check it out as I noticed they're serving soup, and I love soup.

There was only the chef or cook who was inside. He greeted me good morning, offered me a seat, and handed over the stores menu. I went through the menu quickly, and noticed that they don't just serve soup, they have "Batchoy Ramen". And that got me very curious. So without thinking, I ordered one for me. I really need to give the Batchoy Ramen a try.

A few minutes later, the cook came out and served me a big bowl of Ramen with cold iced tea and rice cake next to it. That surprised me a lot as I wasn't really expecting to get more out of what I paid for. So far so good, I am hoping that the batchoy ramen soup that was served would turn out to be amazing too. So I took a quick sip of the soup, it was not hot but warm, and tasted rich. The meat was tender, and the noodles firm. I added some more spice on the soup to give it more bite the way I love my ramen. I finished the entire bowl in under 10 minutes. It was overall pretty good.

If you're unfamiliar, Batchoy is a noodle soup made with pork offal, crushed pork cracklings, chicken stock, beef loin and round noodles. Its origins can be traced to the district of La Paz, Iloilo City in the Philippines, hence it is often referred to as La Paz Batchoy.

Anyhow, I checked the menu and saw that they serve more food. They have Halo Halo, tapa and tocino meals with rice, which are popular local breakfast food in the Philippines. The photo that is featured on this page is actually what I ordered when I went to TBE again the following day. I was with Red this time.

They also serve burgers if you're craving for one. the photo on top is a burger on rice. It tastes really good.

The Batchoy Experience (TBE) as how the store is named serve me a pretty decent meal, and I surely will come back for more.
